Dear fellow McStas user, the issue of being able to use more than 2e+09 neutrons in one run doesn't seem to be resolved yet. If you remember the message Kristian sent out a while ago he said that larger numbers should be possible. My first test on a SuSe Linux machine with 3e+09 didn't come to an end although I wasn't sure I was waited long enough. Therefore I tried 3e+09 on an ALPHA workstation and it worked just fine. Now I tried 4e+09 on a PC (REDHAT Linux) and it's still running after 3000 minutes. The "same" job with 4e+07 needs less than 15 minutes to complete! Is anybody willing to run a job with 4e+09 neutrons on any system other than an ALPHA workstation? Does anybody have additional insight or can drop me a hint what I might be doing wrong? Any comment is really appreciated ...
